>>Trump and not Clinton was asked the question because in his campaign speeches, he'd been making assertions that the election would be "rigged." Clinton never made any such assertions.

As I keep saying, rigging was confirmed by Wikileaks. Trump was correct that the dice were stacked against him, e.g. corrupt practice by MSM openly backing HRC. Even the Chinese were sufficiently moved to make an uncharacteristic statement in English describing the "ugly unity" of the MSM trying to influence the result. My question would be, why are people more interested in spectral Russian boogeymen rather than real life MSM cheats who fed presidential debate questions to Clinton? And why wasn't that reported by a recipient not wanting to be tainted by obvious corruption?

The more likely explanation is that corruption is ingrained in the swamp and these people thought they could keep it secret and get away with it as usual. IMHO that's the interpretation that caused so many to vote as they did.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
