Re: the academic record, that is a side issue, but a relevant one. Obama's biggest fans promote him as a brilliant legal expert. That's an assessment, an opinion - but not one borne out by facts. Doesn't mean (in itself) he wasn't fit to be president - but the "brilliant legal mind" has been tied too much to the cult of personality, more than anything else. I mentioned Sonia Sotomayor the other day by contrast - SHE has the keen legal mind, not Obama.
