The sequence of events when instantiating a Form
FORM.LOAD
INIT for each control in the form
FORM.INIT
FORM.SHOW
FORM.ACTIVATE
FORM.REFRESH
WHEN for 1st control in TabOrder
GOTFOCUS for 1st Control in TabOrder (if it has one)

the show event you pointed is exactly between form.init and form.activate.I dont know if it changes something in this case.must test real example.
putting "form.windowstate=2" at design time is globally the same as putting it in form.init.
