Well, it's probably a more realistic view.
Just about every modern commitment contains the unspoken additions "if you believe that" and "unless a better deal comes along"
Consider "I'm very excited to be leading organization x ahead to greater things" or
"I've always wanted to play with team x and can't wait to join them"
I still do business with some very large companies.
It's a rare instance where one of those breathlessly enthusiastic newcomers lasts at one of them for more than three years.

Probably the most blatant and prolific lie, though, is "Till death do us part."
