Actually, this is a return to the way the government began here.
Washington, Jefferson, et al were wealthy landowners whose interests in government were driven at least in part by the desire to protest their own interests.

We have had some really good leaders - Jackson and Lincoln for example - who were not wealthy, but in general the political hacks - especially in congress- have done more damage than good here.

After years of people like Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Clintons and Obama -people who never had a serious job in their lives- it was time to give the people who have accomplished something on their own a chance.

During the primaries, one Trump supporter told an interviewer that he thought Trump's shady business methods were a plus:
"Maybe he can do things like that for us."
