She was very highly respected in the Fox world but has also made a name for herself in the SQL/SSRS world with a steady stream of deep-dive SSRS blog posts.
As far as stepping back, I think maybe it's more a matter of shifting focus. I don't believe she does as much public speaking as she did years ago - but again, take a look at what she's blogged about over the last several years.
And in a way, I can relate - from 2005 to last year, I did somewhere between 250 and 300 community sessions, and roughly 30 conference sessions. I've stopped because it took too much of a toll on me, but I'm still writing and doing webcasts.
"Limelight" is kind a funny word - when I write an article for CODE, potentially over 50,000 see it. (Sure, not all of them read it). Soon I'm going to have some MSDN webcasts up - those usually generate a healthy # of views. All of those without having to leave my home. :)
So like I said, Limelight is a funny word
