>is Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86) the same as VC7? What are the specific files that are installed that the VFP compiler needs? Before I install the package, I would like to search for the files to see if there is already a version there.
Just for completeness, if it's a 64-bit compiler you may need to install an x64 package.
Some MS component installers are unified i.e. if you install on a 64-bit system you get both 32- and 64-bit components/installations, if applicable. I don't know if the VC++ component installers work that way.
OTOH the C/C++ "way" is to only INCLUDE what you need, so maybe a 32-bit x86 C++ redistributable is just and only that.
