>>is Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86) the same as VC7?
Yes.
>>What are the specific files that are installed that the VFP compiler needs?
I did know, but Chen has simplified it all. What I used to do, was to check the "Copy" bat files in each VC FoxRun folder to see the dependencies it copies. But of course you can't do that until after you install. IME you can run the V7 copy later if you want to add more than one compilation option.
>>Before I install the package, I would like to search for the files to see if there is already a version there.
Run the installer and experiment with versions in the VC++ version drop down. On my current machine, VC10 was already there, presumably for some other purpose. If the installer can find the dependencies, it'll say so and offer to install itself.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
