>>Enjoy your wooly mammoths while you can.
>>Yes, John, their days are numbered so enjoy them while you can.

No end in sight for "wooly mammoths" down here ... even though drones are slated to replace the old ways of dealing with another wooly species that comfortably outnumbers humans. Not convinced- on pure economics and with the demonstrated intelligence, what's shown in the video is difficult to beat.

>>My brother and I, along with some friends, are among the few remaining whacko's who owned horses within NYC limits.
>>We galloped those spirited fellas on marshy flats that now serve as runways for JFK international.

FWIW, my good friends in Indianapolis maintain horses for their daughter in a stable maybe 10 minutes away from their suburb. Not so much galloping land, though. Over here, public land is given over to this sort of pursuit - e.g. https://www.mpc.kiwi.nz/ . The inner city land with sweeping views occupied by the club in the reference would be worth well into the $ 3-figure millions- for 40 equestrian families. But the world is toughening up and before long there will be a clamor to make better use of (sell) this land for the benefit of more than a privileged few. There's already calls to sell the land occupied by Remuera (wealthy suburb) Golf Club on public land worth $400M, with ? 30 years left on their peppercorn lease.

>>Ou sont les neiges d'antan?

Bravo, Bill. (Though the PC brigade might interpret your comment as a reference to "bitches." ;-) )

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
