I don't really uderstand why you have to stick with image control on the grid, if you need to view the change of the .JPEG file on the grid (after you changed the JPEG file seperately), you can put LINK on your append general so you only put the link to the JPEG file on general field.
As far as I know, if you use image control on grid you can't change picture directory for each row.
