>>I'd go further: It allows US and Rusian gov to publicly bitch, thereby offseting some of the Moscowgate press around Trump Team.

Moscowgate is interesting. After many months of multiple investigative threads by multiple intelligence and investigative government powers: still no evidence. Yet the Misledia insists that the invisible smoke proves there is a fire waiting to be found. Meanwhile there's ample evidence of illegal, careless or undemocratic behaviors by others- think illegal email servers, Podesta (fake) groundswell organizations, highly paid involvement with Russian government organs that is supposed to be declared but wasn't, partisan cheating in debates, partisan undermining even of your own like Bernie, denied until impossible to deny unmasking/surveillance of Trump insiders that then mysteriously gets leaked... on and on it goes. But none of that gets more than passing mention by the Misleadia that prefers infinite investigation of Moscowgate.

Some years back, my then company was subject to IRS audit in another jurisdiction. Reviewing the accounts, they requested a huge haul of selected invoices or receipts from years past, all of which were provided. They asked for more. All but one was provided. They asked for another tranche. At which point a partner at Ernst and Young (accountants) intervened, observing that this is over and beyond reasonable investigation when nothing improper is found in the first huge information haul that already exceeded most investigations. Should they continue the disruption without any evidence to justify it, he threatened a ministerial complaint and public scandal. It appears that in a democracy, government entitles may grant themselves infinite power but they'd better watch out if they appear to selectively oppress. As an example, if an IRS were to appear to disadvantage/suppress a Tea Party or similar political stream, that is and ought to be a scandal.

As for Moscowgate: seems to me that unless FBI and others wind it up soon, the terms are set for infinite ongoing disruption and leaking to undermine and distract future government of whatever color, ad infinitum. That ought to be a scandal, but nobody seems to care.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
