>>We are using Windows 10 Workstations over a Novel server which we will soon be switching to a Linux one. We are looking at using Tight VNC which is a free product to connect to local machines on our Network as well as other machines outside of our company in comparison to other products which may charge for business use.

>>My question is does anyone see any security concerns with using this product? Why would I not just use this one for free over paying for other software out there?

>I was actually asking the same question myself recently into a very similar environment and the usage of a free product. I guess it just depends on a proper analysis on the product itself to determine if it would fit your needs. As you have security concerns, then, yes, a Google search as well as other related searches will be good to consider in the gathering of relevant information to add some insurance into the usage of such product. In my recent experience, it turned out to be actually quite good.
Googling out a product usually may bring a certain number of FUD-fueled articles paid by competitors. My son-in-law's tactic when searching like that was to google for "{product name here} sucks" and see what kinds of major flaws it may have. My addition to that method is to pay attention to dates and style of texts found. For products where the harshest critics fall into one of "doesn't work (propelry) on Mac", illiterate kid, whining about a lack of fad feature (i.e. something in fashion but not necessary - like skins, connecting to social networks), "I'm too stupid to use this", "not bad but I prefer {expensive brand here}" or are related to an early version, in all likelihood the product is actually good.
IOW, I read the critics but with a critical eye.
