>>>>>>Hi,
>>>>>>
>>>>>>I was wondering if you (collective) can suggest some typical prices software companies charge for business iOS apps? And when I talk about business apps, I don't mean the thousands of apps you see in Apple store. But something that is used by corporations or large organizations.
>>>>>>TIA for any input.

>>>>I see your point. But many companies have a notion that desktop business application costs are high. But they may (or may not) expect that Apple apps are cheap because in the Apple store you see millions of very inexpensive apps.

>>>Businesses buy software for 2 main reasons:

>>>- Because they have to: to comply with regulations, or with external requirements e.g. compatibility with clients, accountants etc.
>>>
>>>- Because they can get a good ROI
>>>

>>>You have to decide if a $5 app is competition for your $500 a seat product. If so, you might have to point out why your app is worth the extra $495 ;)
>>
>>Thank you. I like the $495 extra :). My company has developed an iOS app that works as an add-on to the VFP application (with SQL Server as backend). The beta has been very successful. Now the customer wants many more iOS devices. And this is what makes me thinking of what to charge.

>Is your iOS app a complete replacement for the VFP app? If so, does one iOS sale mean one less VFP sale? Or are the iOS sales ones which you can't get with the VFP app e.g. they require mobility?
>
>Probably the main thing is to try to figure out your customer's thinking. Why do they now want many more iOS devices? They've obviously done some sort of cost-benefit calculation. They probably won't give you the details but you should be able to estimate the value of the benefit. Split that with them in some proportion. Don't leave too much money on the table ;)

Did my wife talk to you? :) No, this iOS will not replace the VFP app. The VFP app has many more features. There is also a ASP.NET application. The iOS makes the system work completely paperless.
I don't know what the customer's thinking is. They probably liked (and their staff liked) how the iOS works and they prefer to eliminate the papers. And I know they have money :) But, to be honest, I still think of them as a beta tester so I don't want to over charge them.
