And the background color of this section is kind of light blue. It looks exactly how I would like to enter some of my code snippets into a Word document.

When you paste formatted text into Word, or other application which can interpret certain formatting, such as incoming from HTML, it will adapt itself to preserve the format as best as it can into a parsing on its own. In Word, you can always view formatting by saving the document into a "Word XML Document" format.
