Yes, very funny, Nicholas. ;-)

The author spoils it with a reference to recent healthcare reform aiming to kill fellow Americans. Why oh why do apparently intelligent poeple keep doing this?! "Fixing the blame rather than the problem" catastrophization prevents adult discourse IMHO. Especially when people seem willfully to turn away from the elephant in the room = $47T Medicare deficit to cover boomer healthcare entitlements, while fretting over a national debt half that size. At some stage the young will realize that all these unimaginable numbers are accumulated as a special inter-generational gift for the last chump in the Ponzi scheme- themselves. Revolution then is easily justifiable to escape economic slavery imposed by a Gerontocracy for whom impoverishment of future citizens seems to be a mere bagatelle as long as self-assigned boomer rights are honored. (I put that last bit in for the amusement of Bill F. Hi Bill!)

Regarding healthcare funding: unless massive further funds are injected to satisfy insurers, Obamacare is in its death spiral and *will* collapse if Senate dawdles too long over its repeal. If we all imagine for a moment that we are purely cynical GOP senators: the smart political move is to dawdle and obstruct, modeling ourselves on Democrat obstruction of confirmation hearings in congress, until Obamacare collapses. Then we get to open our eyes wide and proclaim "but you demonized us for wanting to protect Americans from this socialist failure- and now you blame us for being too slow to repeal it?!" and all the other easy political contrivances. This definitely would put American lives at risk (apart from the 1% of course, or politicians who pass legislation to exempt themselves from negative consequence) but politically it would be a slam dunk for the GOP and for Trump, while the Democrats get to wear a "kick me" sign. So if this doesn't happen- iow if Senate gets on with it- then IMHO the GOP deserves a pass or several passes for future apparent wrongdoing, because clearly they did the decent thing this time at the cost of ceding the high ground to Democrats who now can bemoan every negative consequence and pretend the ACA was a paragon.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
