Well, which pillar of democracy doesn't appear corrupted? Elections are won and lost based on that perception. Trump is fighting the media, not protesting against its bias. That's what kept him in focus. However, he is now the POTUS. His words and actions have far deeper implications than any media commentary. My eyes are on him, as should be everyone else's.
With the risk of disappointing Bill F :-), I quote from the same link you cited in the beginning, and which generated this whole discussion:
"The media’s credibility today is at low ebb, but the Trump presidency is not the time for the press to pull back. The news media gave Trump a boost when he entered presidential politics. But a head-on collision at some point was inevitable. It’s happened, it isn’t pretty, and it isn’t over."
