>>There are zillions of examples of people serving more than 10 years for having a tiny amount of pot - there are even non-violent offenders LIFE with parole for nothing other than pot.

>I'm still waiting for that example of someone getting a 10 year sentence for first-time offender with a small amount of weed.
I didn't look around real hard - didn't find any that fall into that category for a 1st offender - but found a few examplea of guys getting locked up for like 12 years as the result of having 2 joints because they had a prior conviction for something else years prior. But I think the point I was trying to make is that Jeff Sessions is undoing all the work that's been done towards getting rid of these cruel draconian sentencing guidelines. It used to be necessary for someone running for office to try to be the biggest hard-ass on the block when it came to sentencing guidelines and the more harsh of things you could come up with made you appear 'tough on crime'. Not so true anymore as society has realized the error in thinking this way. In regards to pot, Sessions has repeatedly said that it has zero benefits at all - and of course we all know that is simply untrue.
