>>A bridge is a really bad analogy here, since building a bridge out of swiss cheese (or whatever inadequate materials) is life-threatening and illegal. I imagine that if a client asked you to build an application that involved cooking the books in some way, you would turn down that work. There are clients I would turn away because of the nature of their business. (Easy example: I wouldn't work for a cigarette or gun manufacturer.)

I think that I can say with a good deal of certitude that some of my apps have been running at least as long as those anyone on this this forum and probably a lot longer than the apps of most of the members.

Yes, my apps delete rows and with gusto and no, they are never logged!

Guess what?

There has never, ever, ever been a case where that produced an adverse business effect for the client and there have been hundreds, if not thousands of cases where the absence of that useless refuse has sped things up markedly.

Might there have been a case?

Yes, and I might have won the Masters, but neither has happened and, based on observations of reality, neither is likely to happen.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
