While there, I learned three most probable causes of silly phenomena that reason can't explain, why do they do things in insane ways:
1) to prevent a lawsuit, because one guy from Nashville once sued against that and got rich
2) because the insurance will charge them much more if they do otherwise (and that's actually a consequence of (1), because the insurance would pay)
3) because that's a stipulation in the loan agreement with the bank
4) for security reasons
