Actually it has important characteristics that (with respect) you ought to appreciate unless you expect (and are allowed by the insurer) to stay on the same insurance plan so you're not bitten by pre-existing conditions. I approve 100% of the ACA's attitude to pre-existing conditions - as long as there's individual mandate.
So the problem is in the execution. They flinched when some voters protested individual mandate. From that point, only an ever-increasing injection of $$$$ can keep this thing going and the Republicans have no intention of propping it up, so ...
