I am not expert enough to figure that out.
I am convinced that our elected representatives are even less expert.

I know that premiums were rising before Obamacare - and rose even more sharply after Obamacare.
At a minimum, it did not fix the problem.
At the maximum it IS the problem.
The truth is somewhere between.

The truth is, third party payment (Insurance, Government, Rich Uncles) causes rising prices.
Competition causes falling prices.

Obamacare focused on shifting who pays, while effectively decreasing competition.
The result has been a feeding frenzy for Pharma.
Also an ever larger army of bureaucrats in insurance companies and government - requiring an ever larger layer of provider bureaucrats.

Agreed - the bureaucrats in insurance and the bureaucrats in government are living well off their ticket-clipping.

Unfortunately, I think our system is too corrupt to be re-cast as single payer.

Americans want to believe that health care is "free" and unlimited once you have coverage.
I doubt we will accept a rational solution - our beliefs are simply not rational.
