I moved the getnewid procedure before the insert, and doing all the updates in one swoop and so far it's working. i'm taking it field by field and running a couple through, double checking the table and adding a field to the insert command....so far so good...thanks everyone...

Glad you found a solution. I'm wondering, though, why you're doing all the extra work of data entry into something other than fields and then having to add the record separately. Why not bind your controls directly to fields?
