Use a loader architecture and the VM server connection speed is only an issue if updates are found.
Running exe/apps from non-local disks on your local machine relinqishes control of loading/reloading from a measurable/deterministic/optimizable resource to network speed, which often is influenced by unreliable, changing factors out of your control.
