Here is a follow up to my post of a couple of weeks ago.

I did re-install dcom, but that had no effect. I have since realized that my computer is not actually locking up all the time (in VFP6), but if I don't do anything and wait (sometimes 5-10 minutes, sometimes longer), I found that the computer is actually accessing the hard drive every 10 seconds or so, although the computer appears to be locked. Then, out of no where, the computer re-boots!

Now, when I get the blue screen of death (which happens as well), there is nothing I can do but hit the re-set button or turn it off.

These are only happening in vfp6, again, no problems in 5. Everything else seems to run fairly well on the computer except 6. Some days are better than others. I have re-booted probably 10 times today and accomplished nothing.

Oh yeah, I have run every harware diagnostic that came with my computer (dell) several times, and everything comes up fine.

I also was wondering if it was a particular application that I had moved from 3 to 6, but the other day I was creating something new and working off my hard drive and same thing happened.

If anybody else is having as many problems in 6 as I am. PLEASE help. We have another computer running 6 in the office with no problems, and everyone I have talked to that runs 6 says the same thing. I would like to contribute it to my computer, but all the other apps on it seem to run alright....

>>I have been having all kinds of problems with vfp6. The only system I currently have actively in 6 is a program that waas originally done in vfp3.
>>I can hardly do anything for any length of time without my entire computer locking up. Nothing to do at that point but turn it off and turn it back on.
>>I suspected I was having a lot of problems because I upgraded to Win98, so I took a whole day and re-formatted my hard drive, and did a clean install of 98, and while everything else on the computer (Dell 333) is running a LOT better, vfp6 is still locking up MANY times a day.
>>I never had this problem with vfp3 or 5 on this computer. I am at a loss and very frustrated. I know I posted something similar to this a while back, but if anyone has any ideas, please help!!!!

>I'm sorry to hear about all these problems and would like to help out any way possible. One of things you should first try is to search your VFP6 CD for file called DCOM98.EXE and run this to install latest version of DCOM. Let me know if this helps. Otherwise, it would great to get more details.
