Maybe "backbone"? That would mean they have 10Gbps Ethernet networking and switchgear within their datacenter. That helps with physical servers talking to one another, and also helps prevent virtualized servers being starved for network bandwidth. It probably won't affect your app, networking to the desktops is still probably 1Gbps. I haven't yet seen a 10Gbps connection to an end user/workstation.

I recommend not trying to fake it with tech. Just explain up-front you're not an "infrastructure guy" and they'll understand, and go ahead and ask your questions.
