In your app starter you can implent the data folder into your path. Usualy this path setting is kept in a ini file in case you would like to have your exe runned by others, you should make a setup procedure in your app in which your user can set the data folder (once) ,saved into your ini file and saved into your path setting so on on next run your exe will find the data directory.
Mind you I am always referring to VFP9SP2 and not to VFP6 which you should forget by now.
