>I keep telling myself that reading in a foreign language that one is learning does not equate with learning. I read (mostly novels) in Spanish all the time. Recently finished a very interesting novel "Una pasion rusa" which was awarded the prize for the best historical novel in 2015. The novel is about the life of the wife of Sergei Prokofiev (Russian composer), her struggles in Russia, and years in gulag. Very fascinating book, and very closely following the actual history of Russian/Soviet Union from the Russian Revolution of 2017 until our times. Almost 600 pages.

>But after I finished it I felt cathartic but not really happy that I have improved my Spanish much.

>I know I need to read grammar and something that will help improve the language but it is so boring :(.
I read "Lolita" in Russian and I learned quite a bit :)
