>>>If you compare concludere with decidere (long "i") there might be some overlap, but the distinct sets are more in line of Holmes concluding something based on exhaustive analysis and Alexander deciding on battle strategies with some facts but elements of the battle still to enfold..

>A Latin scholar out of Germany?! I assume you're referring to Latin (even though Alexander was Greek, though Dragan might insist on Macedonian) so thanks for the reminder that "decidere" has little attachment to its English derivative. Latin derivations went haywire in common parlance, only closely preserved in English-speaking communities via Catholicism until 1969 and medicine to this day. But in this case we have a fellow who sees "Occam's Razor" and rather than applying it, starts talking about shaving his face. "Deliberatus." ;-)

Actually I did apply the simplest solution from the start: the reason there are two words (conclude and decide) is that they were needed. The need arose from the existence of two actions for them to describe. Ergo, not same and not interchangeable. If they were the same, one of them would be shaved off.

And, BTW, I also had two years of latin in grammar school. (no capitalization on that, I find making capital on the achievements of a socialist country distasteful)

Ah, just remembered another ridiculous thing, similar to this "I have decided that it's friday today": "It rained last night, I promise". How can anyone promise anything that already happened? Or, generally, promise something that he can't influence?
