>>What I'm saying is that statue of Lee is viewed as a racist symbol and need to go. Do you agree with this or not?

I agree that some people do see the statue of Lee as a racist symbol.

>>Secondly I'm saying that the Washington statue is not viewed as a racist symbol. Do you agree with this or not?

I agree that some people do see the Washington statue as a racist symbol.

I also agree that your opinion is not the pinnacle of morality. If somebody else decides the Jefferson Memorial is a racist symbol, in my opinion you are entitled to express your disagreement without being shouted down as a racist Nazi, just as those who disagree with you about Lee should be entitled to explain their reasoning without being shouted down as racist Nazis.

The problem with the process you prefer, is that it only works for you when YOU are the one throwing around the criticism and acting as if your views are the height of reason and morality. It may not be so desirable when you are on the receiving end. Do unto others etc.

>>Now it doesn't really matter if you think the Lee statue is a racist symbol or not does it? And it sure as heck isn't up to you if it was. Fact is that its a racist symbol against every black person in the country - so it doesn't really matter if you think it is or not because it's not about you...or me either for that matter.

Actually, the only personal preference I expressed was that they all can be pulled down as racist symbols for all I care. That's not my point. My point is that wanting to keep a statue does not make you a Nazi, and that people should be allowed to discuss without nasty labels. This is true whether it's a Charlottesville veteran wanting to keep Lee or you wanting to keep Jefferson.

>>Curious how much time you have spent in the USA?

I don't pretend to be an expert on Honolulu but I've probably spent longer in more states than many of your fellow citizens, sometimes remaining for months at a time. I expect I've spent more time in places like Charlottesville or Birmingham than most here. Not that it matters: you don't need to be a carpenter to have an opinion about a table and chairs.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
