Mom and Pop aren't used to all this, but will catch on if violent disruption is the new norm. Either they'll all bring whistles to draw attention to any masked or obvious invaders, or they'll give up on exercise of civil rights some of them fought for. Either way people will get to lament "you don't know what you've got till it's gone."
