>You keep making statements like that, but you have yet to offer a single fact to support this point.

It's my obligation to say my side about your statements Mike. No need to mention any facts about my point because its obvious and its a reality.

>The long term impact of spending hundreds of man hours writing something that is probably less functional, not as well designed, not as well documented, not enhanced unless you do it yourself, not as flexible and not as powerful, not supported by anyone and not as powerful as something that you can pick up for $600 or less is a waste of hundreds of man hours?

If VFE is functional, well designed, well documented, enhanced, flexible and powerful, supported by anyone and powerful as something that you can pick up for $600, then, there should'nt be other frameworks out there that are coming out. I did know some foreign developers here in our country ( Canadians and Americans as well ), and they prefer CB Mortals than VFE for you info and to answer your next statement.

>only to pick up VFE later and either rewrite their applications or at least do all of their new ones in the framework.

>The only people that should be writing frameworks for their own use are the ones that either already have one they developed that they want to continue to enhance and the ones that have a client that's willing to pay for them to develop a framework. Anything else is a waste of time, effort and money.

>No one is forced to upgrade. Once you buy any of the frameworks you're free to modify and extend them however you see fit, if that's what you choose to do. However, when you write your own framework, you're creating a dependency on yourself to upgrade and maintain the framework or get left behind in the dust. At the price of the VFP frameworks it will always be less expensive to upgrade or buy another one than to do it yourself. For example, we've got the fulltime efforts of two developers, plus a slew of beta sites and input into the design from people like Steven Black, John Petersen and a number of other people with a great deal of knowledge about OO and where technology is headed into the new version of VFE. The result of which is a framework that's dramatically improved over the 5.0 version. The upgrade is $299. Can you pay 2 of your developers each $150 a year to have them maintain, enhance and document your framework?

I don't have the nerve anymore to answer this. It's already an 'Advertisement.'
