Congratulations !
Those are pretty darn good numbers.
The A1C is pretty good for a diabetic, but above the normal range - and can cause long term complications, according to Dr Bernstein.
https://www.diabeteshealth.com/qa-with-dr-richard-bernstein-10/another view:
https://www.healthcentral.com/article/davids-guide-to-getting-our-a1c-under-60In my own experience, I was able to get my A1C down to 5.0 and 5.1 after I lost weight, went low carb and used my BG meter many times per day.
Still slightly above the normal range, but should reduce long term complications.
The key, according to Bernstein is what he calls "The law of small numbers"
He explains it much better than I can in his book
http://www.diabetes-book.com The key is to keep BG low and steady.
Eating carbs and correcting with drugs or insulin will lead to a roller coaster of high BG and dangerously low BG.
High BG causes long term damage, low BG is dangerous right now.
Anyhow, Bernstein's book is awesome and if you send me your address in a private message, I will send you the book as a gift
It is that awesome.
