>>Personally I am not sure if there is a benefit of using 64-bit VFP IDE (and even a 64-bit run-time) rather than the 32-bit. From my perspective, the 32-bit runs fine/fast.

Yes. The 64-bit VFP certainly loads very quickly and fixes quite a few of the bugs that had been left unresolved. But perhaps my main justification is because it's impossible to have a 64-bit VFP IDE. ;-)

>> But this is better solved using a SQL backend rather than patching the DBF native to VFP in my opinion.

Yes, I've expressed that opinion also. In the absence of dbf encryption, I'd prefer larger tables even in SQLLite (ideally with inbuilt C++ connectivity so no ODBC) rather than huge dbfs. For distributed exes the day may come when a 64-bit driver or ODBC simply is better, but meantime there's various flls that ought to be recompiled for 64 bit. Interestingly Chen has incorporated zipping and encryption asm or c++ inside the distributed dll which does away with the need for some flls, but there's still things like PHDBase that people may need. As well as the common controls and IE ocxes.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
