>>Fewer than 30% of the people arrested for felony offense in the US during the past several years have been female.
>>Given the prevailing logic, there's a huge bias against men in the criminal justice system.
>>Of course that's absurd.
>>MEN COMMIT MORE CRIMES THAN WOWEN DO.
Those Wowen are wowderful. ;-)
You don't think people with dark skin are more likely to be stopped, beaten or shot by authorities in some places?
Personally I "get" why police might have different expectations, based on their own life experiences.
The shame is that the opportunity is lost to discuss and fix the problem rather than the blame. As an example, if it can be shown that x% of violent resistance comes from people with a certain characteristic apart from male, then that community has the right to know why police ought to be more cautious dealing with them and what is the community going to do about it? Instead it turns into ugly frustration mostly driven by people in armchairs focused only on the end result.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
