Thanks for the clip. Impressed by the reference to the war ending in 1974, so far into the future (in 1944) that it might as well be forever.

And yes, I know who Jody represents and even where the term came from. These days you'd label those marchers cultural appropriators/racists. ;-)

When even foreigners can see this, it ought to be obvious why those players shouldn't do it... unless they (and their supporters) think that two wrongs make a right, or that vicarious grievance justifies biting the hand that feeds you and other systemic belligerence.

Sadly, these sorts of self-evident truths are swept away by the intellectually easy preference for chanting slogans. All animals are equal, they scream, but check your privilege, because some animals are more equal than you! People should be careful what they wish for; the NFL may yet get a chance to stage games mostly for the entertainment of the players themselves, at which they can signal whatever they like to each other while once-loyal fans direct their entertainment spend at other pursuits more to their taste.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
