The NRA is the whipping boy. The gun manufacturers fund them and hide behind them.
There are parallels with the executives of cigarette companies several decades ago. There was moral culpability there then and there is now with the executives of the gun manufacturers.

Like cigarettes, though no one is twisting anyone's arm and forcing people to buy guns so primary moral culpability rests squarely on the gun owner, as it did with the smoker.

Smoking plummeted for a lot of reasons - good information - leadership by MD's - and leadership by pol's like Michael Bloomberg who took the bold step of banning smoking in NYC restaurants.

The turnaround took decades, but it happened.

I agree that much of the ranting coming from the left is counter productive, but to set the record straight - hippie professors don't have a monopoly on stupidity and demagoguery.

How about "Fight 'em over there so we won't have to fight 'em here" or "Do you want to see a mushroom cloud?"
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
