You are definitely making some conclusions that as near as I can tell, cannot be substantiated. Joe has gone into zero detail about his specific needs.

To say that 1 framework cannot meet all (100%) of his needs may be a fair statement. It may also be fair to say that he - or anybody for that matter - may need to rely on different frameworks for different types of apps. But, to say that any commercial framework must be ditched in favor of rolling your own framework is off base. I for one use Visual FoxExpress - since 2.x. Sure, I customized the heck out of it...still do. But, VFE is still the foundation - and I am way ahead of where I would be if I had to roll my own framework. Simply put, I don't want to - nor do I have time to - to create my own framework. Most folks are in this camp...
