>>Ok who is president right now? That would be Trump, right? So talk about Trump. You can't use someone else's past failures as an excuse for new ones by a different person.

Bill's point is that there are atrocities and deaths that were set in motion long before Trump, that ought to occupy national discourse. Which attention in turn would enable/shame politicians (including Trump to a limited extent, but mostly in the House) to act.

Instead, bubble attention is firmly fixed on WHADABOUTTRUMP. Hundreds of thousands of innocents dead of starvation or curable disease in Iraq? WHADABOUTTRUMP. Entrenched hostility towards the US in large parts of the world? WHADABOUTTRUMP. ISIS enabled/armed/encouraged by ham-fisted uncoordination and hawk arrogance towards Iran and Russia? WHADABOUTTRUMP.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
