In the strict legal sense he would not of been considered a "child molester" had it happened in the 1970's in Hawaii (which of course it did not) - however since these advances were unwanted there would still be the legal issue of sexual assault. That being said, a guy who is over 30 and targets 8th grade junior high girls 14 years old shouldn't be a senator either.
