>>Fair enough. In 2012 I bought what I confidently believed would be my last Windows PC, a HP envy with fabulous screen and a processor that 5 years later still outperforms most of the notebook offerings out there. I replaced it months ago because... its battery died and I could not source an original replacement. Th machine itself with its aluminum case and SSDs could have lasted me a lot longer.

>Hope you kept the machine to run without battery - much better to have a screen in any room than to move a desktop laptop ;-))

>>So yes, I accept that my expectations may be optimistic and ironically I was let down by a battery! But with so few moving parts and off-the-shelf electronics, tires etc, once battery prices reach the sweet spot it's cheaper to manufacture electric vehicles and cost of running is fantastic.
>
>That is due to a large part only on taxes piled onto gas - at least over here. Expect some fiddling as soon as electric cars get more common.

>>It may happen very quickly indeed.

>And half a dozen years from that half spent battery packs will be cheap enough to put in your cellar as night source for solar not needed during daytime - which will be an interesting situation for owners.

>>LOL. My experience: Uber has transformed my socializing, with a $8 Uber cheaper than extortionate parking in town if I anticipate a beverage or 3. Uber is just a self-driving car that still has a driver and economically, we may all end up Londoners not owning our own vehicles because it's cheaper and easier not to. Some of today's kids may never bother to get their license and will ask incredulously whether we really self-drove big metal vehicles at each other, killing thousands of fellow citizens every year. ;-)

>Parking was half the reason of getting motorbike as well, staying sober is easier today than as a twen and knowing I have to ride home makes me non-alcoholic for the evening. And most of the time I don't mind today ;-)

ummmhmmmm -yeah I tried that. Thought I was real slick with a motorbike in Hawaii - could ride it all year round, zillion miles ot the gallon, best parking everywhere and not paying to park either - what a great way to save a few bucks right? Yeah well that all was great until the night someone ran a red light and smashed into me - sending me smashing into wall and over a bridge where I landed 30 feet below in some bushes...and the driver split. Meanwhile had to learn to walk again, have metal rods inside my leg and ankle holding it together, metal where my checkbone used to be, etc etc etc etc. Unable to stand for a couple of months and a bit of memory loss as well. Good news is that after 2 or 3 so years I recovered to the point where I can get back on the surfboard and walk/run just fine (for a few miles at a time anyway) and the plastic surgeon did a fantastic job. Bad news is that ObamaCare didn't exist when it happened and I had no health insurance as I was a contractor - so a nice pile of $350,000 worth of medial bills for the hospital stay and all the operations to put me back together again, not to mention my leg is apparently going to hurt forever now to some degree. Oh and passing though the metal detectors at the airport is a real treat now too cause I set them off. Needless to say my plan to save a few bucks via motorbike backfired in a huge way.
I'll pass on the advice I've told all my friends with motorbikes - sell it. Save yourself and just sell it. Most of my friends that had one have since sold them - but I do have one girlyfriend that rides a Hayabusa 1200 (she's a speed freak) and another one she has a Harley Davidson - so far they haven't given theirs up yet. The one with the Hayabusa has also raced bikes like that on racetracks and I doubt she'll ever let it go - the one with the Harley will probably let her's go next summer. But really dude I would just sell the thing - no matter how careful and good you are on it -- there are times when another driver in a car can nail ya and ya can't do nothing about it. Would be great to have one if there were no other cars on the road with you - but since that won't happen -- just sell it.
