>>>Have you been to Korea since you were stationed there? I was there for about 6 weeks working on an Army contract in 1981. From about 1996- 2012 I would spend about at least a month there working on an Air Force contract. Except for the possibility of East Germany I have never seen a country change so fast.

>>Nope, but I can just imagine.
>>My Samsung TV and my Samsung phone are being made by people whose grandparents lived in mud huts because their homes had been devastated by the war.
>>It's amazing what those people have accomplished.
>>
>>What air base were you at?
>>I spent some time at K-13 - Suwon and K-14 - Kimpo.
> I worked at Osan and Kusan . By the way Kimpo is now Gimpo(domestic flights- the international airport is at Inchon) and Kusan AFB is near Gusan. Suwon is mostly ROK AF with a US Army Patriot battalion. The 35th ADA Brigade that was there moved to Osan in about 2011. The whole base is scheduled to close in the next few years. They still had the huts in 1981 but Park had already put out the warning date that they would be burned. See pic for their replacements. In 1981 Arbor day was pretty much a mandatory formation. I was told that cutting down the trees was first offense - 5 years, second offense firing squad. Now, for the first time in about 150 years, they have forests. Remember how dirty everything was - notice the floor in the Inchon Airport pic.

Awesome change!
The progress there is amazing
