>>>Here's what I'm curious about (and this is a serious question): the # of people who have added Fox to their proverbial arsenal in the last 10 years, and the last 5 years.

>Why does it matter? I'm about to re-offer customers a Windows app shelved in the early 2000s when we moved most stuff to web, with various IE iterations and now Edge creating a need for constant update... leaving it far easier for customers to set and forget for any device via RDC and a trusty Windows app.

OK, couple of things.

First, I read through some of Thierry Nivelet's technical blog posts up on foxincloud.com/blog. Those are some of the best examples of good clean and informative tech posts I've seen. He writes and explains very well and his posts are packed with meaningful code examples. He is good, and I mean REALLY good. I've bookmarked his posts and in the future I plan to show his content to others as a great model to use for tech writing.

Second, those stats are certainly encouraging for FoxCloud - but (and I don't think you'll disagree here), it doesn't address the question on whether people are adding Fox to their arsenal. There might be more and more Fox people finding value in FoxCloud, and that's obviously great news for those wanting to leverage their investment of Fox. But that's different than people who previously weren't using Fox. I'm sure there will always be a place out there for RDC - but I wouldn't say it'll give advocates the "last laugh". Seldom is there a last laugh in this industry. Well, unless one bet the farm on dBase IV 1.0 - I can laugh at those people. :)

What I "carry forward" from the Fox days is the great presentation strategies by people like Drew Speedie. A few weeks ago at SQL Saturday I did one of my SSRS power tips presentations, trying to jam as many examples into an hour as I could. I've crafted that approach for over a decade. I had people hanging around the podium well after the presentation, asking follow-up questions, just like there was always a line of people to ask Drew something afterwards. And I credit the memory of Drew and his accomplishments The Fox world had plenty of heroes in its history. That period of 1989 to about 1998 represented a near decade of arguably unmatched intellectual explosion and creativity.
