>Spammy Cakes are loaded with sugar. As far as Russian Roulette cookies, I would not call them cookies since they are not sweet at all. Are you trying to trick us? :)
I always go for less sweet. My wife generally takes the recipes with least sugar, and then adjusts them by halving the amount and putting more (and less processed) fruit. I love that - the sugar mostly covers the other tastes. What began as a traditional muffin is now, in her interpretation, square and loaded with fruit (mostly pears and sour cherries, that's what we have most, but strawberries and apricots are frequent in their seasons). Where you can say that classic is laced with fruit, this can be said to have some dough to hold the fruit in one place. My only problem with that is to spread them over at least three days, I can't digest it as fast as I can eat them :).
Sometimes she sprinkles powdered sugar on top, which I usually shake off. What dissolved is enough.
