Either TODAY() or NOW() will work, provided that they are in the right order, that is the second date should always be greater or equal than the first one, weird...
=DATEDIF("2019/01/15", "2018/03/17", "d") => #NUM
=DATEDIF("2018/01/15", "2018/03/17", "d") => 61
=DATEDIF(TODAY(), "2018/03/17", "d") => 65
=DATEDIF(TODAY(), "2017/03/17", "d") => #NUM
=DATEDIF("2017/03/17", TODAY(), "d") => 300
