>Which is the best SSD drive to buy of around 250 Gb . Need good performance.
Google is your friend - there are tons of reviews out there.
You need to specify form factor/connection type:
- 2.5" drives with the same form factor as laptop hard drives are common, those usually use SATA connectors. You may also need brackets to mount this size of drive in a standard desktop PC
- m.2 drives with PCIe interface. Faster than SATA but require compatible motherboard slot or PCIe add-in card
- PCIe add-in card
- Your OS should be Windows 7 or later to support TRIM
- Does the drive need to be bootable? If so SATA should boot fine. Booting from an NVMe/PCIe device requires hardware support and OS support (may require Windows 10)
In some cases larger capacity SSDs are also faster, because they have more internal controllers which run in parallel. You might want to check performance of a 500GB drive vs a 250GB of the same family if you're concerned about performance.
