I think people do question, and wonder, and sometimes openly doubt... and then go up for communion. Remarkable, but billions of your fellow humans do it.
Meanwhile, others who scoff at religions folk, exhibit their own versions of partial cranial abstinence- such as those who insist that their smoking has no impact on their health despite the avalanche of empirical evidence to the contrary. Know anybody like that? ;-)
