I have Nvidia graphics with the related key in the Registry, my system works fine.

If you are using OEM-branded display management utilities (e.g. HP, Dell etc) you may want to uninstall those and use the reference drivers and software packages instead i.e. Nvidia GeForce, AMD Catalyst, or default drivers from WHQL as long as those identify your hardware precisely.

Many machines from large OEMs have lots of bloatware installed by default, most of which is useless; the primary exceptions are advanced power management for laptops and possibly advanced wireless networking controls. Some of these bloatware packages even include automatic updaters to make sure your bloatware is as bloated and up to date as possible.

You may also want to experiment with Control Panel...System...Advanced system settings...Advanced tab...Performance section, Settings...Visual Effects tab. Within that you can experiment with "Let Windows choose what's best for my computer" (the default) vs "Adjust for best performance" or various custom settings you can manage individually.
