>>I've already had the argument of the definition of racist - look it up in the dictionary - that is how one determines how a word is defined.

Yes, sir. So you mean precisely "showing or feeling discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or believing that a particular race is superior to another."

In that case, can you please look up "race" in the dictionary, since that's key to your definition. Hopefully you'll agree there's a plethora of meanings, some of which might make most prejudice racist.

I know I'm being pedantic, but IMHO there's a real risk that these terms are hurled so liberally that it comes to mean simply that somebody with a different shade of skin was affected, no matter the context.

>> that might be homophobia...but that's a rather ridiculous scenario because it seems unlikely that a Chinese restaurant would be in the business of selling wedding cakes.

Seems to me they're distinguishing Chinese food from gay food. What would you call that?

Another scenario: the same couple goes into the Muslim bakery next door and asks the hijabed shop attendant for a rainbow cake for their gay nuptials. What happens next?
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
