Strong arm and accuracy are important; these are physical skills. I remember well Drew Bledsoe, Patriots’ QB before Tom Brady. Drew had a very strong arm and pretty good accuracy. But he lacked two mental skills that I consider very important to be great:
1. Making a decision quickly. He would hold on to the ball too long
2. Trusting his receivers. It seemed like he didn’t have full trust in his receivers, as he was holding on to the ball, waiting for them to be open. Instead of trusting that would run the route and be where they are supposed to be.
