>Holy red ink, Batman .. are these republicans?

Yep -- this is always what they do - complain about deficit spending when the dems are in power - then when the GOP has control they change their tune and go nuts. Nothing new here.

>The insanity- bipartisan, of course, here sets new markers.
>$165 billion in extra defense spending.
>We really, really needed that.

>For sure.
>So, if you have the guts and want some thrills, take a ride on Amtrak- it's more thrilling than an Alpine slope.
>Or.. take a ride on I91 thru Ma and Ct to feel your teeth chatter while skimming over potholes at 70mph.
>For some real kicks, ride over any bridge in NJ... wow!
>But we need more $13 billion aircraft carriers, what's a little teeth chattering?

Yeah not kidding. I cringe every time I see a chart that shows our military spending compared to the rest of the world -- yet Trump is runing around saying Obama crippled our military and we need to spend spend spend more money on the military cause 'its weak' and we need more nukes...what a pile of .b.s. Meanwhile - as you've pointed out -- the road conditions in the USA have become horrible. When I bought my Lotus Elise summer before last, I drove it clear across the USA and this car is not fond of potholes. I made the trip with no problems (although I had to drive a few extra hours one night and boogie across part of UTAH rather quickly to outrun an incoming hail storm lol) -- but I spent a fair amount of time dodging potholes in the highways. And yeah -- the bridges are in pretty sad shape these days too - some of them I wonder how they haven't fallen!! Our interstate system is one of the things that has really done wonders for our economy over the decades, I hate to see it in such bad shape. Many of the state highways were not a whole lot better - I wandered around on some of those because I wanted some back roads and twistyies and small towns. Was still a fun time though :) my twin sis bought an Alfa Romeo at the same time just a few miles from where I picked up my Lotus so we made the run together :) good times.
